I Love Virus 1.1 Submitted to AppStore and Some Changes

January 22nd, 2009

We submitted I Love Virus 1.1 to the AppStore today and it addresses a lot of the feedback that we have been getting about the game recently.

One of the major complaints we were getting was that Virus moved to slow. I am glad to report that will not be a problem any more. Especially when one gets the the speed power-up. Not only is Virus faster now, but so are the White Blood Cells. So you have to be that much more careful!

The second change we introduced was to address something we noticed when we watched people playing. People new to the game would often continue to swipe Virus, not realizing that Virus is smart and remembers what you tell him. Now Virus expands and contracts when he understands a command. This should also help when Virus has a clone because when you input a command Virus will expand and contract but the clone won’t.

The third change was some changes to the Art Work. Don’t fear, Virus is still as loveable as before! In fact, we didn’t change his art work at all. What we do though was update some of the other artwork in the game to improve contrast a bit. The differences are pretty incredible and we think make things a lot easier to see and distinguish. As you can see below the board stands out a bit more as to the blood cells.

We think this update really improves the experience with I Love Virus and cannot wait for it to get into your hands. With any luck it will get online in the next day or two.

I Love Virus Released

January 16th, 2009

We finally released I Love Virus yesterday, officially launching with at version 1.0.1. Why 1.0.1 and not 1.0?

We built and submitted 1.0 to the AppStore and it got approved. After we submitted it though, we got some more feedback that the input was a bit too strict. People would try to turn when virus was at an intersection instead of before it not realizing Virus is smart and remembers which direction you tell him to go. The end result was testers would get to an intersection, attempt to turn, and virus would keep on trucking… not the best experience.

Thus we decided to make Virus to be a bit more …forgiving…and have him turn further in an intersection than he normally would. However, if you do it more than 5 times per life or level (whichever comes first) a subtle hit comes up that suggests a different way to play. I think this has improved the gameplay quite a bit, especially for those that are new to the game.

If you have no clue what I’m talking about, go on the AppStore and purchase I Love Virus today!
